Political Power Versus Gender Equality

 

SHOULD MEN SHOULD MAKE UP THE MAJORITY OF SOUTH AFRICAN CABINET BECAUSE OF THE CULTURE'S IN OUR SOCIETY THAT PROMOTE MALE DOMINANCE?

Members of the cabinet are accountable collectively and individually to parliament for the exercise of their powers and the performance of their functions. The Cabinets role is to advise the president on any subject he may require relating to the duties of each members respective office.

The cabinet consists of 30 parties if we include the vice president. 14 of the members are female and the rest are male. That means that 46% of these members are women which isn't a bad percentage, if you consider the fact that our society promotes male dominance because of culture.

There is a common perception that when women are stressed they become emotional and fall apart. An important factor that predicts a group's collective intelligence is its social sensitivity... in other words you have to be emotionally intelligent to make a good and strong decision.

To learn more about decision making in general and key differences between men and women I decided to ask five boys and five girls the same question. This selection was random as I didn't want to be bias and needed my points to be valid regarding my data sample.

The question was "would you date anyone who doesn't believe in the same faith as you?" the answer options were "yes", "no" and "not sure". The stats proved to that majority of females were not sure while most males in my sample were straight forward with their answers.
This proved that females are not necessarily certain when it comes to decision-making most of the time, and certainty is something that we need in good cabinet members.

It sounds like a good idea to add more females in the cabinet members of South Africa, considering the state of Parliament making men majority of South Africa's cabinet is in the working in anyone's favor. The Parliament is chaotic and maybe if there was gender equality or even more females things could have been different.

Having more female members in the cabinet has never happened in the history of South Africa but change is inevitable. Things could work out for the better and if they don't, at least a step taken would have given us some enlightenment.

The whole issue around this is not to decrease male power in the country but to equalize power and bring about change, the fight is not against men but against other nations and our socioeconomic state.

Culture changes as time does... New customs and traditions can be implemented for the security of our nation. Maybe... Just maybe decreasing the number of men will work in our favor.
